The PRESIDENT was a sister ship of the CONSTITUTION and the UNITED STATES. Was
launched on April 1, 1800. A favorite ship because of her speed and appearance and
served as a flag ship in the Mediterranean in 1801-2 and again in 1804-5. The ship
was captured by the British in 1815 and later was broken up at Portsmouth.

The UNITED STATES was a sister ship ot the CONSTITUTION and the PRESIDENT. Was
launched on May 10, 1797. On October 25, 1812 the UNITED STATES captured the frigate
Macedonian. On April 20, 1861 the ship was sunk at the Norfolk Navy Yard. Later raised
in 1865 and broken up in 1866.

AMERICAN BRIGS 1813
NIAGARA & LAWRENCE

Original Sold
The two american brigs NIAGARA & LAWRENCE and four schooners took part in
the battle on Lake Erie on September 10, 1813 under command of Oliver Hazard Perry.
Perry's flagship LAWRENCE was completely disabled and most of the crew was wounded
and killed. Perry transferred his command by boat on the NIAGARA and broke the British
battle line. He captured; two ships, two brigs, one schooner, and one sloop.

The Challenge was launched in 1851. Designed and built by
William H. Webb, New York. Largest merchant sailing vessel ever
launch in that time for N.L & G Griswold Firm, New York.
The american clipper ship was used for the California trade.
