CLASS R1 4-6-0 Class R1, Ten-Wheelers were assigned to 400 service on a regular basis; on the Monico-Watersmeet segment of the Flambeau 400. The engines were ideal for the medium-speed,multi-stop runs. 1385 survived the scrap yard and is at North Freedom Railroad Museum. The engine is restored and in service at the Museum. It also pulled the circus train to Milwaukee several times and had other train excursions. |

CLASS E 4-6-2 PACIFIC NO. 1620 Chicago and North Western used two shrouded Pacific's No. 1617 and 1620 for service on the Minnesota 400, from Chicago to Mankato, Minnesota. They replaced the Class D Atlantic's which were too light for the expanded passenger trains. |
